Barbara Johannes - Photography / Digital Art
Barbara purchased her first SLR camera in the 1970s. She notices and appreciates details, nuances, balance and lighting, and this attention to individual elements is an important component of her photographs. Her favorite college art teacher told her that pleasing art should appear as one would desire it to be. This philosophy guides her art. In 1990 she moved to a digital SLR camera. Digital art allows her to enhance the details of placement, clarity, balance, and exposure, thus supporting her guiding philosophy.
Barbara also plays the accordion. She began at the age of six. Her accordion was put aside during her college and working years, but she has taken it up again in retirement and finds great joy in playing.
After over 40 years in education, and an equal amount of time with photography as an avocation, life sees me reversing these roles. Now photography and music are my focus and passion. I have received awards for my digital art at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair and Art in the Redwoods, and my photographs and cards continue to be purchased at art shows, on line, and at Gualala’s Artists’ Collective Discovery Gallery. It is my hope that you, too, will wish to add to your collection one or more photographs that touch your love of people, places, flora, fauna, and treasured objects.
