Anne Vernon

watercolor, acryla gouache, encaustic, archival prints, ink, pan pastel, digital and analog mixed media

I am a career illustrator, portraitist, and painter, working both traditionally and digitally. I have always worked in two disciplines: 1. Commercial Illustration and Creative Director, 2. As an artist portraying the world, in portrait, landscape, and meditational abstracts for private and public clients. I flow between traditional mediums and digital mediums, sometimes crisscrossing between platforms multiple times for a single piece.

Anne Vernon attended Mills College and the University of Nevada, Reno, receiving degrees in Art & English. She received her Masters in Illustration from Syracuse University in 1999. While raising her family, Anne became an internationally awarded illustrator, art director and designer, eventually establishing and running her award winning studio, VeVa Communications. Her commercial work has appeared in multiple medias, including two books on her illustration, and a children’s book, “Pasture Bedtime." Anne has been an artist since she was a child, starting with portraits of her seven siblings. She has shown her personal work throughout her life along with her illustration. She has now segued from a decorated career in the advertising and design industry into her great loves: painting, pan pastel, encaustics, fine art prints, silkscreen, and digital painting. Recently she won “Best in Show” at the Gualala Arts Plein Air Affair, for her painting "Blazing Sunset at the Tea House.”
