Fifteen years of living on the coast has inspired me to appreciate and paint many scenic blessings. I mostly paint oils and tend to specialize in seascapes and landscapes.
Prior to retirement, my successful but long business career left little time for artistic endeavors. Now when I paint in my studio I often wear an apron which reads, “ A bad day in the studio beats a good day in the office.”
The nearby Mendocino coast provides inspiration for her oil landscape and seascape canvases created from photos she carefully composes.
Working from her cozy home studio, Joyce starts by photographing the ocean, forest, meadows and sunsets available on the scenic coast visible from her studio windows.
Recently Joyce began painting in Venetian plaster on wood after taking classes from Jane Head. She enjoys the interesting effects.
