Michael Henderson, Mendocino coast resident since 1977, finds artistic expression through a wide range of art media. He began sketching in his early teens and is mostly self-taught. Along with a few high school and college art courses, he has developed a working familiarity with such media as sculpture, ceramics, block printing, and photography. He has painted in acrylics and watercolor and drawn in graphite, charcoal, carbon, Conté crayon, India ink, and colored pencil.
A former campground manager, construction worker, and hardware store salesman, he currently works part time for Sonoma County Parks. He produces several art pieces each year in his spare time. He and his artist wife, Jennie Lee Henderson, share a three-studio home near Point Arena, California.
He conducts two workshops annually at the Gualala Arts Center. “Back to the Basics” two-day drawing workshop is held in June and “Sketchbook Journaling” is held in May.
He now offers affordable private drawing lessons and art coaching by appointment at Henderson Studios in Point Arena. For more information, visit online at HendersonStudiosPointArena.com.
